For many female school leavers, jobs paid below minimum wage in sari-sari stores are the only possibility to get a job at all.

And so, after each school year, thousands of school leavers flock to underpaid jobs or are forced to work abroad for little money. Before that, they are fleeced by unscrupulous job agencies and put into long-term debt.

The picture was taken at a sari-sari store in one of the municipalities of Misamis Oriental province at the local market.
