Large Selection of Ukay-Ukay

A Filipino phenomenon is UKAY-UKAY. This is second-hand clothes and things for the home like carpets, curtains, bed sheets and more.
The sale or even importation of all these things is prohibited by law, yet in almost every small town there is a place where these things are sold.
In a big city like Cagayan de Oro, there are even two-storey UKAY ukay shops in the Cogon area on Yacapin Street, hawking all these things in public, especially in the evening hours. To keep everything orderly, a police outpost is then manned and the police are on the spot with vehicles and attendants.
If you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, you can get into a shootout between bodyguards of the mostly Muslim operators of these shops. Otherwise, a stay in this very busy part of the city is quite eventful.
