Residential Street during the rainy Season

Most people in the Philippines do not live in fancy walled housing estates with guards at the entrances and exits, but often in densely populated areas near markets or marginalised areas by industrial plants. Here, every square inch is used as living space and the residential streets are correspondingly narrow. These are often not yet paved and concreted, or if they are, they are often not provided with the necessary drainage for the water floods during the rainy season.

Here we were on our way in such a residential area in the city of Cagayan de Oro, in Barangay Puntod, where an acquaintance led us through the winding little streets.
