Living above Water

Where others have a bicycle or motorbike as a means of transport, people living above the water in stilt houses often have a banca (paddle boat with outrigger) or motorised banca in front of their houses to get to shopping or work.
Such dwellings are built on low stretches of coastline that are often flooded or where intensive fish farming is carried out with ponds.
We also visited there with our camera and had a wonderful banca ride through the nipa forest to the Cagayan river just before it flows into the sea. You can watch the video on the YouTube channel PHILIPPINE MAGAZINE ->>
