MISAMIS ORIENTALSights

Sagpulon Falls in Jasaan

We showed our visitiors Petra and Nonoy the Sagpulon Falls in Barangay San Isidro, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental, Northern Mindanao.

Petra is a German national, while Nonoy is a pure Manila boy, and they are married and living already many years in the city of Herten, North-Rhine-Westfalia in Germany. They come regulary to visit the Philippines, but this time was the first time to set foot on Mindanao.

We all had a lot of fun, and I could took in some scenes with the camera. Me and Petra has been the only foreigners on this day, it was a monday, a working day. We have been sursprised by the crowd here. There were families from far as Maramag from Bukidnon.

By one of the last tropical storms, the old hanging bridge has been damaged and couldn't be used to pass over the creek. The province administration had installed an emergency bridge made from bamboo.  I personally remember this hanging bridge about 40 years ago. There was no cemented road going to the falls, but a raw path we managed with a hired jeepney that time.

The province administratin had let repair and rehabilate the place and build some shelters. The surroundings are still wild. There are no really leveled ways and paths and sometimes visitors has to climb over rocks to go from one pool to the other or to the fall.
THE PLACE IS NOT FOR DISABLED PEOPLE or they need to be carried. For me it was amazing, how the couple of drunks managed to get back to the entrance.
