At the Sack Dealer SAKOHAN TRADING

 

 

It is not every day that you find a shop that sells used and new sacks. However, there are several of them in the city of Cagayan de Oro, so I assume that this kind of shop will also exist in other places.

The sack dealer’s warehouse is filled with lots of sacks.

 

 

 

The used sacks have to come from somewhere and someone has to sell them to the sack dealers. A large number of the sacks apparently come from livestock farmers who feed the feed mills’ feed to their animals. There are certainly other sources where used sacks also come from.

Who needs used sacks? We found a customer who bought a whole carload of used sacks by chance directly on site when loading the sacks. I got another idea this morning. I was looking for someone who was making copra. At the spot, however, I only found a man who was just about to leave on his motorbike, holding a bundle of small plants in his hand.

The statement about the copra was that they had just finished it and that they only do it every 3-4 months. When asked about the plants, he said that they were small offshoots of Nara trees that he would continue to nurture in his tree nursery and that he had collected here under the tree. Through the bushes, this nursery could be seen in the distance and that’s where I got my video yield for another video this morning.

 

 

 

The worker retrieves more sacks from the depths of the warehouse. At that point I didn’t have the video camera ready and only took photos. Later in the video I will use the camera to go into the deeper parts of the warehouse.

The client was the operations manager of a major import company based in the port of Cagayan de Oro city. His company imports salt from Australia and other countries. According to him, the Philippines does not produce enough of its own salt.

Unfortunately, I was not able to follow up the conversation and find out the whys and wherefores. However, I think that the imported salt is industrial and is not filled in small 50 gram shakers. For example, salt is needed in ice-cream making. I’m sure the reader has other suggestions to make.

 

At least we were able to make contact with the operation manager and he wants to ask the management if I can get permission to shoot a video on the factory premises.
