Life in a Philippine Barangay # 007 – Pump Engine Motorcycle
A type of self-built motorbike with a pump engine with the borrowed name of the so-called ‘pumpboats’, the banca or outrigger boats that are often operated with this 16 hp pump engine as well.
For this purpose, between a front wheel with handlebars and a rear wheel, this pump motor is installed with a belt drive that is transmitted to the rear wheel on a chain. As the motor immediately turns the shaft, the belts of the drive lie loosely on the pulleys and are tightened by means of a pedal and the vehicle starts to move.
